Notice: PSYPACT Implementation in Louisiana
House Bill 486 of the 2026 Regular Session by Representative Annie Spell has been signed by the Governor and enacted as Act 302. The legislation authorizes Louisiana’s participation in the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) and becomes effective on January 1, 2028.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: Until the effective date on January 1, 2028, psychologists licensed in other jurisdictions are not authorized to practice psychology in Louisiana through PSYPACT. Likewise, psychologists licensed in Louisiana are not eligible to practice under PSYPACT authority in other jurisdictions until the effective date.
All psychologists should continue to comply with existing Louisiana licensure requirements and all applicable laws and regulations governing the practice of psychology until PSYPACT becomes effective and implementation procedures have been established.
The Board will provide additional information regarding implementation requirements, timelines, and application procedures as such information becomes available.
