IMPORTANT NOTICE: Changes to the requirements for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP)
Effective June 20, 2026, the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (LSBEP) adopted revisions to its regulations governing the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP). Applicants should carefully review the information below.
Examination Timeline
An applicant admitted to candidacy for licensure has four (4) years from admission to candidacy to successfully pass the written examination. If a passing score is not achieved within the four-year period, the application for licensure will be closed, and the applicant must submit a new application to pursue licensure in Louisiana.
Examination Attempts
Effective June 20, 2026, LSBEP removed the limitation on the total number of EPPP examination attempts. Applicants may continue to retake the examination as permitted; however, a passing score must still be achieved within the four-year candidacy period. Removal of the examination attempt limit does not extend or alter the four-year examination timeline. Please Note: The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB), which administers the EPPP, independently limits candidates to no more than four (4) examination attempts within any rolling twelve (12) month period. Applicants are responsible for complying with all ASPPB examination policies.
Retaking the EPPP
Applicants approved to retake the examination will be readmitted to the EPPP through ASPPB’s online registration portal. Once readmitted, applicants must complete the required registration process through ASPPB’s registration portal.
Upcoming Transition to the Integrated EPPP
The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) is transitioning to the Integrated Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology. Applicants enrolled in the current EPPP at the time the Integrated EPPP is rolled out will continue to be eligible to take that version through March 31, 2028. Beginning April 1, 2028, only the Integrated EPPP will be available. ASPPB has announced that the examination fee for the Integrated EPPP will be $650. Applicants are encouraged to monitor both the LSBEP website and ASPPB announcements for additional information regarding the transition.
